We contrast Contextual Inquiry with other methods for analysis which can entail dangers of reductionism, in which complexity is not fully recognised. In particular, we focus on a systemic perspective which emphasises individual emergence. In our view, it is important to recognize the unique, contextually dependent views of individual actors within collaborative settings.
